DRAMATEKA – a library of specialised texts at the Small Theatre of Vilnius.
A cozy, non-binding space houses many different dramatic texts, technical literature, and collections. Currently, the collection consists of texts mostly in English, with a few in French, German, and Lithuanian.
The idea to create such a space came together with Gintarė Parulytė, a theatre and film director, playwright, and screenwriter living in Luxembourg who is convinced that we become better writers by reading.
The idea for such a space came to G. Parulyte while she was studying acting in New York. In addition to intensive practical activities, students were asked to read at least one play a day and to do so methodically every day. This is how they began to visit the famous Drama Bookshop, buy and exchange books, share discoveries, and develop a love for theatre in text.
“We need to hear and start listening to new stories, new narratives and new voices,” says G. Parulytė and invites us to accept the increasingly frequent otherness through understanding, but not fear. In this way, we aim to change the world through love, mutual support and common inspiration.
We would like the shelves of the Dramateka to be constantly filled with new works, so we would like to invite everyone who wants to share works of high artistic value or high-quality technical literature by contacting the head of the VMT literary section V. Klipčius by e-mail: vincentas.klipcius@vmt.lt
We will soon invite you to participate in discussion-format events.
Dramateka's opening hours:
Tuesday - Saturday: 11:00-18:30
Sunday: 11:00-16:00
(lunch break: 15:00-16:00)

Distance learning with the State Small Theatre of Vilnius.
The Vilnius State Small Theatre, in cooperation with the Culture Pass programme, offers schools a unique opportunity to participate in special distance learning lessons with performance screenings. These educations take place via online video broadcasts, allowing students to engage in the world of theatre without leaving the classroom.
To learn more about these distance learning courses and to book a service, please contact Ingrida Jankauskaite by e-mail at ingrida.jankauskaite@vmt.lt
